About us

Welcome to the world of baby wrap Mokosh.

My name is Amata. And I am the founder of Mokosh wrap. It is with me, in most cases, that you communicate during the order or purchase of our slings.

And yes, it's a real name. It's also ancient Greek. And it means "beloved" in translation. Nice to meet!)

I came to slings with the birth of my first child.

It was a wonderful 3 years when scarves helped us travel, visit, walk, do household chores, get sick and be closer to each other with our son.

And then he grew up... And as my eldest son grew up, I understood two things. That I'm not ready to part with the slings. And that I do not have enough colors, drawings, compositions. That is how the sling, as a convenient way of transportation and an assistant, grew into a hobby, and then into a favorite thing.

Since then, for more than 8 years, I have been choosing yarns around the world, designing and searching for unique patterns with many meanings and history. My slings are woven in Russia, Poland. UK and the Netherlands. I am glad that they are worn, loved, and they have helped many parents make life calmer, freer, richer and more beautiful!

And the kids got more warmth and love! After all, in addition to 9 months inside, there are 9 more months outside, in which our children also need constant closeness.

That is why, the biggest reward for me is your messages and photos about what scarves are worn and loved. After all, this is a small production, where every scarf passes through my hands. And contains a piece of me

Chleck Amata. Founder of Mokosh wrap. Mother of two sons. Babywearing mom

Why Mokosh?

One of the most important goddesses of the Slavic pantheon, Makosh or Mokosh, in Slavic mythology, the goddess of fertility and fate, the eldest of the goddesses of fate, and also the patroness of women's needlework - on Earth; takes care of women's fertility and productivity, housekeeping and prosperity in the house.

Mokosh is often correlated with the beliefs of the ancient Greeks in the spinners of fate - Moir, as well as with the German spinners of fate - the Norns and Frigg - the wife of Odin, spinning on her Wheel. Due to the fact that the goddesses - the spinners of fate in beliefs appear in threes, the Goddesses Dolya and Nedolya help to weave the Yarn of the Fates of Mokosh, connecting with the weaving threads of a person with the fruits of his labors - good or evil.

Mokosh is associated with the Earth (in this her cult is close to the cult of the Mother of the Raw Earth) and Water (which here also acts as a maternal, life-generating environment).

Mokosh was often depicted on Russian embroideries between two Rozhanitsa moose, sometimes depicted with a cornucopia.

Mokosh Day - Friday, in Orthodoxy, the image merged with Paraskeva Friday, i.e. she is the patroness of housewives and wives.

Its metal is silver, its stone is rock crystal and the so-called "moonstone". Mokosh's animal is a cat.

The symbol of this goddess is yarn, a ball of wool, a spindle, and they were brought to temples.

From the 4th millennium BC on the territory of Ancient Russia, symbols were used as protection and designation of the natural element. From childhood, the Slavs embroidered their clothes and jewelry, thereby protecting themselves. There was a tradition to transfer clothes from mother to daughter, from father to son. With clothes passed not only positive energy (male son, female daughter) but also protection. By embroidering clothes, people created amulets, i.e. something that will keep, protect and help in life. In all embroideries, shape and color were of particular importance. For example, the main colors of embroidery were red and white.
Red symbolized protection from dark forces, white - purity, protection. One of the main symbols was Rhombus. It is included in the most ancient ornament, denoting a person's ideas about the surrounding reality, filled with forces incomprehensible to him. Later, the rhombus denoted the feminine principle: fertility began to be associated with a woman. Further, the rhombus, divided into 4 parts, was a symbol of fertility and a sown field. It was in this form that he became a symbol of Mokosh and a talisman.
It represents motherhood and fertility. The connection between mother and child was sacred to our ancestors, they revered and glorified it. That is why I decided to give you a charm. As a mark of the middle of all sling scarves, you will receive a Mokosh symbol.
Our ancestors believed that it develops the feminine, helps in motherhood and everyday work.
I hope I can pass on some of my care and love to you.

Why us?

In the modern world, more and more parents are studying and applying the principles of natural parenting in their lives.

Many mothers are thinking about how to combine a bright and eventful life with a small baby. To have the opportunity to travel, visit friends, go to exhibitions and concerts and at the same time not part with a little happiness, creating comfort for him. It is at this moment that various types of slings and ergo backpacks appear in life.

For a long time after birth, a baby needs a mother. Constant contact, warmth, voice. Possibility of feeding at the request of the baby. All this will make him calmer and happier. That is what slings give us.

  • Peace of mind for mother and child
  • Mobility and freedom
  • The ability to feed anywhere and put to bed.
  • And, of course, a stylish accessory.

For more than 8 years I have been choosing the best yarns and productions around the world. All fabrics that I create are natural, and the yarn is certified in production.

The store has slings for all ages. From newborn to 5 years old.

Various weaves, compositions, colors and patterns allow you to choose a sling or ergo backpack for every taste and age.

And of course, Mokosh is the only sling manufacturer in Russia whose fabrics are created in specialized factories in Europe and the UK, and a similar range of yarns.

But with fabrics, I would like to show you something more than just a thing.

I think that many of you have read the tales of Gauf.

We remember that after a hard day's work, before going to bed or after a long journey, on a short rest, travelers gathered in a tent and told each other stories and legends, real stories and fiction. They helped pass the time, cheer up, and often learn a lot of useful things. I suggest that you also plunge into the world of legends, tales, fairy tales and signs of the whole world. I want to talk about the symbols that surround us, but which we are not always aware of. It will be an interesting and educational story. It will affect countries and continents, nationalities and individuals.

And if you want to plunge into this story - take a look at the Patterns section.
